How to Turn Amazon Reviews into Product Requirements
Convert repeated review themes into practical product requirements for sourcing, design, and quality control.
From complaint to requirement
A review complaint becomes useful when it is translated into a clear requirement. “It broke after two weeks” may become a durability requirement, supplier test, or material change.
Capture the context
Record the exact complaint, ASIN, rating, date, and buyer use case. Context helps you decide whether the problem is a design flaw, quality control issue, misuse, or listing expectation issue.
Write requirements clearly
Good requirements are specific enough for a supplier, designer, or QA process to evaluate. Avoid vague notes like “make it better.” Tie the requirement to the buyer problem.
Prioritize by repetition and impact
Not every review theme deserves a requirement. Prioritize issues that repeat across products, affect satisfaction, or cause returns.
